Garden of Diamonds

I hold it in my hands -
this garden of diamonds -

and close my eyes -

savouring the moment -

before stepping into its
virginal paradise

I open the blinds
and smile -

as the sun rises over
the diamond frost
of the garden
I thought I had read Merton ... and then I walked into Inchausti's garden of diamonds "

Silhouetted squirrels
frolic in the bones
of an ancient oak -
a work of art

January stone

Standing in the moonlight
As the dogs sniff and spray
My eyes are caught and held
By a rose on New Year's Day.

I'm at a loss
I don't know what to say -
Something profound
before I go away?
A stone to ripple far and wide and deep?
I need to sleep!

(I've really enjoyed the virtual meeting of so many fellow stoners!)

two's company

Hubby's stretched out
on the sofa
the dog's stretched out
on the floor
I'm sitting here
on the MacBook

I watch
as he opens the pack
demonstrates its properties
on my tarnished brass
looks up expectantly...
I nod
and smile
extract a note
and purchase
household cleaner
for triple
the cost of
the old brass bell
bargained for
at the flea market
last month
